Hello,

I have detected some marked inconsistencies between the unharmonized variables

[BR1980A\_LENGHTMU](https://international.ipums.org/international-action/variables/BR1980A_0417)

[BR1980A\_LENGHTST](https://international.ipums.org/international-action/variables/BR1980A_0416)

BR1991A\_NYRLIVST

BR1991A\_NYRLIVMU

BR2000A\_DURMUNI

BR2000A\_DURSTATE

and their harmonized counterparts (eg. migratep).

Moreover, the universe description of the migration variables is not always adequate (eg. for migbr1 or BR1991A\_NYRLIVST, people NIU are those that have always lived in their current municipality of residece, not those that still live in their state of birth).

As a last point, and here is my question : for BR2000A\_DURMUNI, it is documented that 99 means “unknwon”. What about BR2000A\_DURSTATE, BR1991A\_NYRLIVST and

BR1991A\_NYRLIVMU ? Does 99 also mean “unknown” for these 3 variables ?

Thanks.

Geoffrey
